Space Invaders Champion!
Below is a sample battle thread to help outline how battles work with Armor and attacks involved.
***If your character wishes to use a piece of ARMOR or an ATTACK in a battle, it must be noted at the BEGINNING of the battle, along the number of protection points that armor/attack is worth. If you are using an ATTACK, you must ALSO note in which specific post you are using the attack so that the other player can respond accordingly***
***You must have purchased the item/attack you wish to use before you can use it. Mods will be able to see it beneath your user info on the left hand side of the board. Hovering over it with your mouse will show you the protection points.***
***Protection Points from any armor/attack used will be factored into the final total to determine the final score***

OOC: Rowan will be using EQUINE HEAD ARMOR which is worth +1PP
It wasn't long after his announcement in Bitter Lullen that Rowan ambled into the Battle Grounds. He hadn't exactly wasted time in getting here, but neither had he rushed. He had plenty of time to get here, and his assumption had been that he would beat his opponent; he was right. He wasn't exactly sure how he was going to manage this, though, now that he was here.
There was a stench surrounding the area, of dried blood and dead, rotting flesh. It was repulsive, and reminded him of his father's leg wound, when it had still been festering. As a very young colt, he had experienced that sight and smell, and it was horrible. Now, it was worse; it permeated everything, and made the bay Zebroid feel as if he was drowning in the dead. He closed his eyes and willed the turning in his stomach to go away; he needed to win this battle, and to win this battle, he needed to be focused.
His task now was to choose a spot; he was looking for somewhere the ground wasn't too destroyed, and with a spot he could stand that would provide enough protection to his back, but allow room to navigate. So, he picked around the rocks and finally found a location he deemed suitable. It was a large, open clearing, the earth bare, all the way to the soil. There were rocks to the left and right, with bushes to his back and to his front, it was entirely open. He was pleased with this spot; now all there was to do was wait.
OOC: Shetan will be using a SHINY OBJECT ATTACK which is worth +2PP and is a SINGLE USE item. Please delete from my inventory after this battle!
Life was getting worse every day... His herd had either died or left... It was only he and his children, yet even his children had began to wander, and quite a few weren't even three. He knew that a stallion wanted his land. As amazing as they were Shetan never doubted that one day a stallion soon would come and fight him for it. But Shetan wouldn't go down that easy. He would give his all. This was one of the most beautiful lads in all of Kormada and where many memories, good or bad, had been made.
He entered the grounds. It was a long time since he'd entered this place... Yet he'd know it even if he were blind. He saw his challenger. A colt, the same age Shetan was when he had his first battle. As Shetan got closer he could tell who the colt was, Rowan... And Shetan knew very well that Rowan didn't like the fact of the fight, yet in a way he did as well... Shetan approached and made his move...
He came at Rowan at an angle and hit him as hard as he could on his back left knee; as his hoof made impact Rowan's leg jerked backwards. He believed he heard a large cracking noise... So something had to have been broken...
Shetan backed up and straitened his neck as well as arching his head against his jugular so that his jaw and jugular were protected. This would be a gruesome battle... And it was possible that one of them would not make it out alive...
The Bay didn't have long to wait for Shetan, and as the black Arabian stallion approached Rowan examined him carefully. Given his age (which was higher than Rowan's, though he wasn't sure the exact number of years attributed to the other) the Zebroid assumed that his opponent had taken part in at least one battle before, and probably even more than that.
As soon as Shetan was close enough to recognize who had actually challenged him, Rowan registered the brief flicker of recognition that flashed across the other male's face. That made the colt smirk briefly; they had never actually met--had Shetan heard of him? That was a very pleasing idea to the younger; already on his way up to where he wanted to be.
Rowan's musing thoughts were interrupted when out of the corner of his eye, he noticed motion. Shetan was coming in fast, and Rowan just had enough time to begin turning his body, his reaction too slow for a full defense; the other stallion was racing in at an angle, coming unexpectedly from the side. Shetan aimed for the back of Rowan's left rear knee, and delivered a strong kick to it, making the colt grimace.
Immediately reacting to the strike and the pain, Rowan pulled his leg backwards, as quickly as he could. It still didn't prevent all of the damage, though, as he would have hoped. The skin was broken, he was positive, because he could feel the blood trickling down the back of his leg. His immediate fear was that something had been broken, but placing the injured limb onto the ground and shifting his weight to it, his fears were assuaged. Even though his face was marred by another grimace, he knew he would be able to function enough to fight--and perhaps win. But, in the morning, he was sure to have alot of swelling.
As was custom, Shetan retreated immediately after his attack. The Bay's assumptions of Shetan's history in battle, was verified as he expertly arched his head and neck, covering his jugular. Rowan smirked at the other, black eyes shining with adrenaline. Just like an old-timer, the colt thought haughtily, to only guard for the obvious attack. He may be young, but he wasn't that inexperienced; he had been raised as Morte's heir, after all, before having to fight the useless piece of flesh off multiple times.
One hundred different possibilities flashed before his eyes, and without hesitation, one was selected and Rowan moved forward. He wasn't quite cantering, for he always seemed to be weaker after too much exertion; and not just weak like a normal equine--unusually weak. And the beauty of this attack was that he wouldn't really need speed to execute this maneuver. When he was inches from Shetan, he faked as if he would lunge for his ears, and instead lowered the front half of his body. He extended his neck and head, ears pinned to avoid Shetan grabbing them, and then, teeth bared, he lunged the last few centimeters toward Shetan's right hind leg.
Gripping as much skin, tendon, and muscle as he could, Rowan planted his four hooves and threw his weight backward. For a few seconds, he pulled with all his might, and then moved backward as fast as he could; that was a dangerous place to be, considering his proximity to Shetan's powerful legs. A single kick or a misplaced flail to Rowan's head could prove devastating.
His concern's were for naught, because he was able to retreat unscathed; backing up a few precious yards, Rowan pinned his overly-long ears and watched his enemy with narrowed, glinting black eyes. The young stallion's breathing was heavy, his legs splayed apart in a position he hoped would provide some stability if he was charged. His neck was arched, too, protecting the vital jugular in his neck.
Rowan was exhilarated, the joy and excitement pumping through his veins. He had never felt so alive as he did right now. It was thrilling, and Rowan savored it. He felt invincible, and as he observed his opponent, he couldn't help but toss his head and snort once, a smirk crossing his face.
WORD COUNT: 701
Shetan waited, and not a moment too soon. Rowan made a slick move and as he was Shetan tried to get a hit at him but was unsure if he ever came in contact with the colt. Shetan’s leg was bleeding, yet it wasn’t losing enough blood to kill him. He set his hoof on the ground and was surprised to see that it was quite alright to stand on that leg; but that was only because the blow from Rowan had made it mostly numb. Shetan knew the numbness would only last but a few minutes or so, and after that he would soon feel pain. And a lot of it.
He looked up and saw that Rowan had wisely arched his neck. But with his experience, Shetan knew it wouldn’t help him much.
Attack 2: [USING SHINY OBJECT ATTACK HERE]
Shetan came at Rowan with a light canter, trying to keep as much weight as he could off of his bad leg. When he got close enough he half reared, (beginning to feel a horrible pain), and kneed Rowan in the chin, forcing him to reveal his jugular, then quickly biting down on his throat latch. ***A short distance away, a shiny object appeared on the ground.***
Shetan bit harder, and when his teeth began to ache because of the pressure he was putting on, he pulled down on Rowan fast. He was on all four hooves again so he put his weight back on the other three. Before he let go of Rowan Shetan jerked quickly to the left.
He backed up and spat something unusual tasting out of his mouth. He knew some of it was blood, but everything that came out of his mouth was not solid. Shetan didn’t even want to know what the other substance was. He backed up and protected himself the same as earlier yet this time he tensed his muscles more so he could keep most of his position even if he were hit…
(ooc- the knee thing didn’t do anything to Rowan except that it made him jerk his head upwards… just wanted to point that out to make sure that it wouldn’t be counted as two attacks in one turn…..)
(ooc- i also added the attack thing so that it would be easier to tell where the attack is)
Rowan didn't have long to wait once he had retreated from Shetan's vicinity, for the other male immediately charged at him. The darker-colored male lifted a heavy knee and Rowan suddenly found that his head was knocked up and out of its protective position against his throat. In his surprise, he didn't immediately bring his jaw bone down upon Shetan's head as it snaked in and gripped the sensitive skin of his throat latch. He was positive he had been holding his head down better than that; upset, he immediately began berating himself for letting Shetan get the drop on him.
Rowan fought the squeal as it came out of his throat and kept still, even when every instinct in his body told him to thrash about and get the opposing male off of him. Logically, he knew fighting back would only make things worse, but his adrenaline infused mind told him to simply strike back, and wriggle out of the unrelenting grasp of Shetan's teeth; it told him to do anything he could to make the pain end.
Rowan did what he had done in many spats with Morte, and simply let his weight go with Shetan; there was much less chance of severe injury that way. Assuming the next move would be to go down, to get some kind of leverage, Rowan prepared to bend, so Shetan's strategy didn't work quite as well. Still, his opponent was strong, and the pain was brutal; not to mention, the move to the left was unexpected, and it had Rowan off-balance, trying to follow the teeth and avoid all the pressure he could. Suddenly, Shetan let him go and the stallion retreated under a murderous glare from Rowan.
Attempts at remedying his situation aside, Rowan knew this didn't bode well for him. He was bleeding pretty heavily now, and because of the location of the attack, his jaw was sore; he doubted any biting he did now would be very effective. The skin of his throat latch wasn't just broken; he thought he had felt a small piece of flesh come off entirely, which just meant a bigger scar and longer healing time. The colt was vain enough to let that bother him, and his grimace was from that thought as much as it was from the pain he felt.
Rowan's black eyes screwed shut, and he took a deep breath. What could he do now? His knee was throbbing, worse and worse, his throat losing a good amount of blood, and his bites wouldn't do so much damage now. Shetan's stance seemed to be expecting a slamming type of attack, and Rowan didn't want to play into his trap. A good, heavy kick perhaps? That seemed to be his only option; but with his back leg injured, would it be better to support his weight on his front legs, and risk a half kick with his injured limbs? Deciding on the latter, Rowan moved to attack.
***Just before he could, something on the ground caught his eye, and he wondered if it was imbued with magical properties. He started to investigate, then shook his head and brought himself back to the present. That little slip up could have just cost him his life!***
Moving off far to the right, Rowan turned so that he was facing Shetan and then began to move forward. With perhaps a yard between them, he spun quickly, placing all of his weight on his front two legs, and lifting the back tow off of the ground. Aiming for the shoulder of his opponent, he put all the force he had behind the kick. Pain rippled through his body, and it took all his will not to jerk back his injured leg as it was jarred; he had thought he had connected with something, though with the blood loss and the pain he was experiencing, it would be easy for him to imagine it. His goal was to dislocate or break something, but he would be pleased with a heavy bone bruise and some broken skin.
Rowan's back feet crashed to the ground, and he skittered forward before veering off to once more stand before Shetan. It had been a close fight, with injuries to both sides and a fair amount of exertion from Rowan and Shetan. Rowan was pleased with his own performance, and was feeling rather good with himself for doing so well, considering he had been an un-blooded stallion and still held his own in a fight.
He nodded once to Shetan, a sign of respect for a well-fought battle. It was out of both of their hands now.

Formula for Determining the Winner:
To do the mathematics, follow the procedure below.
1. Add up the total points in Damages Sustained.
2. Add up the total points in Damages Given.
3. Add up the total points in Creativity/Originality.
4. Add the point value found in STEP 2 to the point value found in STEP 3.
5. Add the Overall Variety of the Attacks to the Overall Skills of the Player.
6. Add the point value found in STEP 4 to the point value found in STEP 5.
7. Subtract the point value found in STEP 1 from the point value found in STEP 6.
8. If this character is sporting ARMOR or SPECIAL ATTACKS, ADD the designated protection points for that piece of armor to the total found in the previous step.
You've now arrived at the total score, and can repeat for the second player to find out who has the higher score.
Keep in mind that any instances of POWERPLAYING, SUPERHORSING, or any other questionable actions will result in ONE point being SUBTRACTED from the final score FOR EACH OFFENSE MADE.
Points In All:
Rowan -- 39 + 1PP (Armor) = 40
Shetan --37 + 2PP (Single Use Attack) = 39
It was super close but ROWAN wins :]
